PIP’s Developmental Evaluation team utilizes an integrated evaluation model that assesses all the major developmental domains (motor, language, cognitive, sensory, social and emotional capacities— see Early Start eligibility) as well as how the child organizes and uses his or her skills in the home and community environment. Caregivers play a central role in the evaluation process providing specific information about developmental challenges and providing important context and unique perspective of their child’s development.
Evaluations are used to identify areas of developmental need, make recommendations for appropriate services, and determine eligibility for California’s Early Start program.
